# The words that turn up in a scoping call.

Each one defined in its first paragraph, in the terms an operator would use, with a dated example from a system we run. If a proposal leans on one of these words and does not explain it, this is the explanation.

## Terms

- [AI agent](https://octyn.co/glossary/ai-agent): A program given a goal and a set of actions, choosing its own next step.
- [AI product integration](https://octyn.co/glossary/ai-product-integration): AI APIs inside your product's own flow, not bolted beside it.
- [Baseline measurement](https://octyn.co/glossary/baseline-measurement): What was true before the system, so “improved” means something.
- [Dry run](https://octyn.co/glossary/dry-run): Everything except the part that changes something. Default, not a flag.
- [Growth system](https://octyn.co/glossary/growth-system): Finds and drafts; nothing sends until a person says yes.
- [Hallucination](https://octyn.co/glossary/hallucination): Fluent, plausible, false. The model is working as designed.
- [Human in the loop](https://octyn.co/glossary/human-in-the-loop): A person approves before the system acts, while that approval is still real.
- [Observability](https://octyn.co/glossary/observability): Answering why, from what was already recorded.
- [Operating partner](https://octyn.co/glossary/operating-partner): Runs the system after it ships, instead of handing it over.
- [Operations system](https://octyn.co/glossary/operations-system): Takes over repeat work; never closes a person's step.
- [Orchestration](https://octyn.co/glossary/orchestration): What runs, in what order, and what happens when a step fails.
- [p95 latency](https://octyn.co/glossary/p95-latency): The slowest 1 in 20. Averages hide exactly what users notice.
- [Product system](https://octyn.co/glossary/product-system): Voice agents, memory and decision models inside a product, acting only within set limits.
- [Rate limiting](https://octyn.co/glossary/rate-limiting): The provider says no. What happens next is your architecture.
- [Retrieval augmented generation](https://octyn.co/glossary/retrieval-augmented-generation): Search your documents first, then let the model answer from them.
- [Rollback](https://octyn.co/glossary/rollback): Putting the last working version back, on a path somebody has walked.
- [System architecture](https://octyn.co/glossary/system-architecture): The parts, the connections, and where a person decides.
- [Total cost of ownership](https://octyn.co/glossary/total-cost-of-ownership): Licences, runtime, attention, dependencies, and the cost to change.
- [Webhook](https://octyn.co/glossary/webhook): They call you when it happens, instead of you asking every minute.
