# What can a system carry in a health coaching business?

Every log, message and past conversation a participant has had, gathered onto one screen per participant. A coach usually rebuilds that context before each call, from whatever app or thread it landed in last. An operations system holds one record per participant, drafts the next check-in from that record, and leaves the message itself for the coach to send.

Kicker: A counsellor’s day runs on how much they remember about the person on the call.

## How it sounds from inside

- A participant’s logs, history and last conversation live in separate places, and a coach rebuilds the picture before every call.
- A check-in goes out only when someone remembers to write it, and it usually goes out late.
- A new coach spends weeks reading a participant’s history before they sound like they remember the last conversation.
- A participant logs their day however is easiest in the moment, and much of what they say never reaches a person.

## Operations systems

Every situation here is a person missing context before they act: a coach who has to rebuild a participant’s history, or a participant whose day never reaches a record at all. That is what an operations system carries: one record per participant that pulls the history together and drafts the next check-in from it, leaving the message for the coach to send. The same domain also uses a product system that turns a spoken note into a participant’s own entry, so the record holds more than what gets typed.

Boundary: It works inside limits drawn in the Consult: what it may change, what it only reads, and the steps it hands to a person and never closes.

## Health coaching, as built.

- [Put each participant’s full context in front of their counsellor.](https://octyn.co/casestudies/participant-context/demo) (Health coaching, Designed): Logs, history and the last conversation on one screen per participant, with the next nudge drafted.
- [Let customers log their day by speaking.](https://octyn.co/casestudies/voice-logging/demo) (Health coaching · product, Designed): A spoken note becomes structured entries the team can review, and the product can pull through an API.

## What we would map first

- **One participant, one screen**: Every log, past conversation and open thread pulled onto one screen per participant.
- **Who is due a check-in**: Which participants are due attention today, and what the last conversation said.
- **What a coach sends**: The next message is drafted from the participant’s record and waits for the coach to send it.
- **The coach’s morning view**: Which participants need attention first, and why.

## Before you commission one in health coaching.

- **Does it decide what to say to a participant?**: No. It drafts the next message from the participant’s own record, and a coach sends it. Nothing reaches a participant until a person approves it.
- **Can a participant log their day without typing?**: In this domain, yes: a product system turns a spoken note into a participant’s own entry, so the coach starts from more than a memory of the call.
- **What happens to what a participant has already written or said?**: It becomes part of their record. Past logs, messages and conversations are read into the same place the next check-in is drafted from, instead of staying wherever they first landed.
