CompareOCTYN vs

Salesforce alternatives when the org has outlived the admin who built it.
The right Salesforce alternatives depend on who you want keeping the setup working. Stay on Salesforce if your sales and service teams already fit a CRM and somebody inside the company owns the org. If the real work happens around the record, by hand, look at a system built for your company and run by the firm that built it.
OCTYN and Salesforce, side by side
| What it comes down to | OCTYN | |
|---|---|---|
| How it starts | A mapping call, then a paid Consult that maps the work, measures a baseline and ends in one fixed quote. | A free CRM trial for thirty days with nothing to install, or the Free Suite for up to two users. |
| Who does the work | The people who map the system build it and run it. | Your own team in the product, with Salesforce Professional Services or integration partners for the build. |
| How it is priced | One fixed price for the build, in writing, after the Consult, then a monthly fee to run it. | Licences by product. Starter can be paid monthly; other subscriptions are generally paid annually in advance. |
| After launch | OCTYN runs it and keeps it current, and sets it again when the company changes. | A free Standard Success Plan, with Premier and Signature above it for more guidance and faster support. |
| Who owns it | Your data, specs, configuration and code. | Their site does not say. |
| Who it is for | An established company whose team does the same work by hand every week. | Sales, service, marketing and commerce teams on one record, from small businesses to large enterprises. |
A Salesforce org that has run for ten years tends to carry a validation rule nobody will switch off, because the admin who wrote it has left and nobody can say what it protects. That rule is often where a search for Salesforce alternatives begins.
What Salesforce says it offers
The home page describes Salesforce as an AI CRM, with AI agents, data and CRM apps on a single, unified platform. Sales, service, marketing, commerce and IT all sit on that platform, says the CRM page, and Salesforce performs the hosting and maintenance. Agentforce is the part for building and running agents. For smaller companies, the small business page sells three suites.
| Suite | What the small business page says |
|---|---|
| Free Suite | contact tracking and click based AI, for up to two users |
| Starter Suite | a conversational assistant, nurture campaigns and a sales pipeline, for unlimited users |
| Pro Suite | workflow automation, apps you build, and AgentExchange integrations |
Starter can be paid monthly or annually, by the pricing page, and other subscriptions are generally paid annually in advance. Salesforce is a product your company licenses and shapes to its own work.
How the alternatives differ
Moving to another CRM changes the product and leaves your team with the same job of keeping the setup true as the company moves. Salesforce's own Professional Services keep you on Salesforce and bring the build in from outside. Their services page says they handle the hands on build, integration and data work, then work side by side with your team to keep Salesforce performing at its best as the business evolves. Above the free Standard Success Plan sit Premier and Signature, and for systems without a built in connection the pricing page points to MuleSoft licences, integration partners or AgentExchange.
The third kind is a system built around how one company runs, on its own accounts where the work calls for it, and run afterwards by the people who built it. That is what OCTYN does. In a system OCTYN runs, two cascading deletes once silently removed data that had been expensive to collect. Both are now blocked deletes that say what they are blocking. Keeping a rule like that honest as the operation changes is the job, and in an operations system from OCTYN the builders keep doing it.
When Salesforce is the better choice
Salesforce is the better choice when your work already runs through sales, service and marketing teams that need the same record, and somebody inside the company owns the org. The CRM page gives a free trial for thirty days, with no credit card and nothing to install, so the fit can be tested first. A company that only needs contacts and a pipeline can start on the Free Suite and stop there.
OCTYN is the wrong call for a company too early to have an operation to map, and for a buyer choosing on price first.
How OCTYN works
OCTYN is an intelligent systems firm. It starts with a mapping call, then a paid Consult that maps the work as it runs, measures a baseline and ends in one fixed price for the build, in writing, plus a monthly fee to run it. The map is yours whether or not OCTYN builds anything. The people who map the system build it and keep it running, and your data, specs, configuration and code are yours. Your own numbers go into the page on what a system gives back, which counts the hours.
Somebody should still find out what that validation rule was for.
Weighing OCTYN against Salesforce? Bring the work you want built.
The first conversation is with the people who would build it. If there is a fit, the Consult comes next.
