AI agent developer or a systems firm: which does your company need?
An AI agent developer builds an agent: a model that reads, decides or replies inside one task. A systems firm maps the whole piece of work first, then builds what carries it end to end, agents included where they fit, and runs it after launch. One task to hand off? An agent. The work itself? A system.

An agent is a part
An agent is good at one kind of step: sorting what comes in, reading a document, writing a first draft. On its own it has no idea what came before that step or what must happen after it, so someone still has to carry the work around it.
A system is the whole
A system takes a piece of work end to end: where it comes in, the company's own rules for where it goes, the steps a person signs off, one record of what happened, and a view of what is stuck. Agents sit inside it where a step needs reading or judgement, and nowhere else.
The test
Write down everything that happens between the work arriving and the work being done. If one step is the whole problem, an agent may be enough. If the trouble is the hand-offs between steps, the chasing, and nobody seeing what is stuck, the company needs a system.
